Governor General’s Project

I have decided on a Governor General project. We are looking into the possibility of sharing the cost of an air conditioned storage locker in the Washington DC area with Dames of the Court of Honor (DCH) and Descendants of Sheriffs and Constables (DSC) to store Society items – especially the original Registrar General applications and possibly the banners (if the Captain would like this too). Currently, DCH has one to themselves for and best guess this could cost us a maximum of $1000 a year. This is an estimate based as the split will be based on the amount of square footage each group uses. My actual project will be to purchase a fire-proof lateral legal-sized 4-drawer file cabinet to store the applications. The cost of these range from $2,800 to $4,000. Please share with your branches and encourage them to donate to this project. The savings of this will be the $400+ it costs to pass the Registrar General (RG) applications when the RG changes and Treasurer General (TG) records if the TG desires. Also, it will encourages us to better save our history in a central location.

Thank you for helping me get the word out since this decision was made after the first newsletter was published. Tom has put it in the donations form but that can be missed sometimes by the branch leaders.
