Georgia Branch Projects

Nuttall Oak Tree replanted and dedicated October 23, 2013

Members of the Georgia Branch planted a tree on February 16, 1974 in honor of Sexta Eavenson Strickland, author of the Georgia Creed and the Pledge to the Georgia Flag. Through the years, the tree provided shade for the Capitol lawn. Due to drought and disease, the tree eventually died. On October 23, 2013, members of the Georgia Branch dedicated a newly planted Nuttall Oak on the Capitol grounds. It will be enduring and a symbol of longevity, tranquility, and life itself. As it grows stronger, and blossoms with life, year after year, may it carry forward the contributions of Sexta Strickland and the name of the Georgia Branch.
